The last school visit of the year. And it was wonderful to spend it with my dear friend Linda Kehm and her husband Bill at Lakeside Elementary in East Grand Rapids.

Aside from being a super principal, Linda runs Literacy Compass. She is abosolutely committed to spreading the word about the importance of reading and it shows in her incredible students and outstanding faculty. The K thru 5 are reading fanatics!

We popped over to East Middle School to do a program for about 100 Students. Many of them are former pupils of Lakeside Elementary. Some of them gave up their lunch to hear me speak.

A great end to a fabulous year of school visits. Thank you all for inviting me to speak at your schools!

I was at Mt. Airy Middle School today with my old friend, librarian Pam Lichty. I think this is my third visit to her school. I spoke to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders using Keynote on my iPad, which worked absolutely perfectly.

Another fun school visit! Thanks Pam!

After school Pam drove me to BWI to catch a flight the Grand Rapids where I’m speaking tomorrow.

North Hampton School. New Hampshire

I was at North Hampton today with librarian Linda D. Sherouse speaking to a group of absolutely wonderful K thru 8 students after a restful night at “Lamie’s Inn” and a great meal in their attatched restaurant.

(If you ever find yourself in this part of New England stop by for a meal, or spend the night. The rooms have keys. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel that used actual keys).

This afternoon Linda and I drove to Nashua where I’m speaking tomorrow.

The rain is gone and the sun is shining in New Hampshire again.

Today I was with library assistant Tina Mentus at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School speaking to 6th thru 8th grade students.

They were a very friendly group of students…counting the days until summer.

After school Tina drove me to Bow, NH, which is close to where I’ll be speaking tomorrow…

New Hampshire hotel hopping, wherein I stay in a different lacation every night through Friday.

Today I was at West Running Brook Middle School with library assistant Jackie Fenderson. The kind Tina Mentus has been shuttling me around.

I spoke to a wonderful bunch of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

The weather today in New Hampshie is beautiful.

And my old pals Jerry an Linda Pallotta drove up from Boston to take me to dinner. Jerry has written over 100 books and Linda has put up with him for what seems like 100 years. It was fabulous to see them and catch up.

Half a day and I’m on my way…

I spoke at at Pioneer Heritage MS this morning hosted by lovely libraian, Michelle Johnson. A good end to my week in Frisco, Texas. The librarians, principals, teachers, students could not have been more hospitable. I really love speaking in Texas. I can’t thank y’all enough for your kindnesses.

But I’m eager to get back to the farm and Marie to see how her remodeling is progressing. From the phone reports it sounds like they’ve made great strides. There’s a good chance that the project might be complete by the time I get back from New Hampshire next week. We’ll have a new guest bathroom and family room in the basement just in time for summer.

Winding down here in Frisco, Texas. This morning I was at Scoggins Middle School with librarian Tammy Brightwell and Karen Adolff who nearly won the ‘find Roland an iPad’ contest. The librarians in Frisco know what this means.

This afternoon I was at Roach Middle School with librarian Melanie Rumsey and Kathy Berger.

This morning I was with my old friend, super librarian Jill Bellomy at Fowler MS. I spoke to 6th grade and we had a wonderful time as always. And I need to add a Happy Biethday to their VP, Rocky!

This afternoon I spoke at Stalely MS hosted by the cool librarian Mandy Lawrence. Two groups of 8th graders.

I love Texas. The kids have the best manners in the country and there were some pretty good questions too.
